Please join the Tamarisk Coalition (TC) and Colorado State University Extension Office for the 6th Tamarisk Symposium. This conference, held every two years, is considered the preeminent conference on the tamarisk and related riparian restoration issues and will bring together nearly 250 land and resource managers, researchers, public and private sectors and others from throughout the West.   

This symposium will provide participants with the opportunity to learn from past projects, innovative techniques and relevant research to inform best practices and management decisions regarding river restoration.  Cross sector collaboration and sharing lessons learned from various watershed restoration efforts will be the main focus for the conference.  The first two days will be conducted in presentation format with topics including:

  • Finding and maintaining sustainable funding for restoration projects
  • Benefits of developing partnerships to accomplish large-scale restoration
  • Prioritizing restoration sites for improved success
  • Development of plant materials
  • Restoring for wildlife habitat
  • Tricks for dealing with kochia and Russian knapweed
  • Maintenance techniques to improve success rates
  • Using monitoring to improve long-term success
  • Current status of tamarisk biocontrol
  • Challenges and successes of restoration projects from private landowners and public land managers perspective

The third day of the conference will be a working meeting and tour of the Colorado Department of Agriculture Palisade Insectary.
