Hosting Public Lands Summit in Grand Junction on July 19

June 29th, 2017
Tamarisk Coalition is working with the Colorado Outdoor Stewardship Coalition (COSC) and Bureau of Land Management to host a local summit on the Colorado Outdoor Stewardship Coalition’s new Statewide Stewardship Initiative in Grand Junction, Colorado on July 19th.

The Statewide Stewardship Initiative, which is funded by Great Outdoors Colorado, seeks to increase the number, impact, and diversity of volunteer-led land stewardship efforts. This will be your best opportunity learn about and help shape this ambitious project. With your feedback, we can lay the foundation for a game-changing new approach to volunteer conservation efforts.

To improve the management and care of our state's precious public lands, the Initiative aims to:
  • Create a statewide Outdoor Stewardship Organization (OSO) asset database for outdoor stewardship organizations, and accessible by land managers;
  • Establish a set of standards that define OSO best practices;
  • Define uniform stewardship metrics and organizational data reporting standards to improve project impact evaluation; and
  • Plan three large-scale stewardship demonstration projects to serve as models for effective land stewardship projects within the state and across the country.
For more information, please refer to the event details page and read the press release

While content is geared towards local organizations and public land managers, this meeting is free and open to the public. Contact Stacy Beaugh Executive Director with the Tamarisk Coalition at sbeaugh@tamariskcoalition.org or 970-256-7400 for more information.
