Managing Rivers, Reservoirs, and Lakes in the Face of Drought

Instream Flow Council
April 24th, 2018 to April 26th, 2018
Fort Collins, CO

Join this international gathering of instream flow specialists, practioners, water managers, and scientists to learn practical tools and strategies for sustaining and protecting ecological values of water. The workshop opens with a daylong training session on Tuesday where you can select 2 out of 4 available training sessions on topics related to FERC hydropower licensing, water law concepts for dealing with drought, reducing uncertainty in riverine ecosystems during environmental change, or handling information in water management issues. Days 2 and 3 of the workshop will involve presentations by internationally recognized experts who will provide examples on the use of and need for effective laws, policies, science, and public participation to meet water management objectives for rivers, reservoirs, and lakes during drought conditions, with a key focus on identifying practical, proven solutions. All presenters are invited speakers who were chosen after extensive search by the program committee and workshop advisors. Each of the four sessions on Legal, Institutional, Technical, and Public Involvement will culminate with facilitated discussions with the presenters. Read more about the presenters and their expert presentations by visiting the Flow 2018 Program.
